Client Privacy Statement

As a Counsellor I have a responsibility to protect your confidentiality within legal boundaries.

I will not divulge information to anyone that you do not give me written permission to do so.

I will also keep any information about you locked away in a secure filing cabinet.

Circumstances where I will need to break confidentiality

  • If you plan to commit suicide by contacting your local Area Mental Health Services.
  • If you plan to harm someone by contacting the Police.
  • If you inform me of any child abuse situation that the Department of Human Services has not already been involved with.
  • If you inform me that you have been sexually abused by a registered health care professional. I am obligated report this to the relevant governing association.
  • If your case notes are subpoenaed by Court. I am obligated to provide a copy of all notes that I have pertaining to your file. I can also be subpoenaed to provide testimony.

Court system 2nd biggest refer of anger management

40% of anger management referrals come from companies while 30% of referrals come from the criminal justice system which includes the courts and community corrections. 15% are referred by people who have done anger management. The remainder is self referred.

By referring someone you will increase their chances of learning techniques to reduce anger as well as strategies to reduce stress.
